How did you co-sleep with more than one child? I have a newborn and an 18 month old and have no clue how I'm going to manage them at night!
If you are going to try to co sleep with two, I'd suggest getting a good, snug fitting bed rail, or pushing the bed up against the wall and filling any gap with a thick blanket or some foam. Make sure there is no way the baby could slip out, or even just slip into a depressed area where he might not be able to turn his head, or get good air flow. Put the toddler on one side and the baby on the other. Since you are used to co sleeping with one, you know that you won't roll onto your newborn while you sleep, but toddlers are much more sound sleepers and you can't be sure the older child won't push the baby or shove the blanket over, or whatever. Keep them apart. The hardest part of sleeping this way is trying to nurse from the 'top' breast while laying on your side facing the baby!
If you don't really want to sleep with both of them, but also don't want to cause a situation with shifting the older child while up to your eyes with new baby, ask hubby to take over bedtime for the older child. Make a fun routine for the two of them and let dad settle the older child to sleep while you rest with the baby. If the baby will sleep for a bit without you, make sure the last part of the older one's bedtime routine is mommy coming in for one last goodnight kiss!
