Dear GoodJoan,
How do I get baby urp stains (and smells!) out of carpet?

GoodJoan Says
First, scrape off as much of any solid portion as you can, then drench the area with Natures Miracle or Totally Toddler stain and odor remover. Keep the area wet with the odor remover until the smell is gone. That might mean leaving a folded towel or some plastic wrap over the spot overnight. I prefer the totally toddler liquid, which I usually get at the larger discount chain stores, in the baby section. I think it smells better and works well on baby stains. However, Natures miracle is definitely better, in my opinion, for strong pet smells. If a stain persists, try a commercial stain remover and follow the directions for your type of carpet. In my house, the carpets were white when we moved in and we planned to replace them. After the first few red juice stains we decided to wait till the kids got older before investing in new carpet! I've been known to use diluted Tide laundry detergent, oxygen powder type stain removers and bleach based kitchen cleaners to get out some our more obnoxious stains! It's not exactly kind to the carpet, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else's carpet unless it was a last ditch effort to remove a horrible "why didn't you give the baby a sippy cup? Now we have to get new carpet!" kind of stain, but it gets the red and orange powdered drink stains out of my used-to-be-white carpet!
